This adapted edition of #OnYGO – An Innovative, Multimodal OER for the Discovery of Multicultural Frenches builds on the original work by Géraldine Blattner, Amanda Dalola, and Stéphanie Roulon, and was originally published as an open educational resource on #OnYGo. It has been thoughtfully modified and enhanced for publication in Pressbooks by Dr. Vera Klekovkina and Dr. Sandrine Pell to better serve the needs of first-year French students at the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point (UWSP) and the UW-System Collaborative Language Program (CLP).
This version will be used in a hybrid First-Year French course taught by Dr. Klekovkina and Dr. Pell, conducted approximately 75% asynchronously and 25% synchronously. Their goal is to offer students a free, accessible, and engaging resource that supports both structured instruction and independent learning. To enrich the learning experience, this textbook integrates interactive technologies such as H5P exercises, which provide instantaneous grading and feedback. They will also pair this OER textbook with Speakology.ai, a virtual tutor that allows students to practice speaking French in a self-paced environment. These tools are designed to reinforce language acquisition, promote learner autonomy, and foster confidence in using French in real-world contexts.
By combining multimodal content, inclusive cultural perspectives, and cutting-edge educational technology, this resource aims to make the study of French both meaningful and motivating for today’s diverse learners.
